Caterpillar wins orders for diesel-electric propulsion packages for 2 multi-service platforms

Recently, Caterpillar Ships, a ship power solution provider, has received a contract to supply diesel-electric propulsion kits to two multi-service service platforms built by Mejins Offshore in Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industries.

Under the contract, Caterpillar ships will provide two identical diesel-electric systems with four 1500 kW Power Cat MTA-523 azimuth thrusters, powered by motors and soft starters.

In addition, each vessel will be equipped with eight Cat C32 generator sets and other power system components, main switchboards, power management systems, central monitoring and alarm systems, transformers, uninterruptible power supplies and variable frequency drives.

The above system package is expected to be delivered in 2016. The two vessels are designed by Shanghai Jiahao and are expected to be delivered in mid-2016.
