The Qingjiang section of the Minjiang River has a total length of 42.9 kilometers and a gap of 31 meters. According to reports, the Lancang River is one of the major tributaries of the Yangtze River, the total length of the Lancang River is 735 kilometers, and the total length of the Chengdu-Meishan-Leshan section is 127 kilometers. Among them, Chengdu (Huanglongxi) - Meishan (Pengshanjiangkou) is 11.02km, Meishan (Pengshanjiangkou) - Leshan (Lijiang Third Bridge) is 115.98km, and Qingjiang Qingjiang Section is 42.9km.

In May 2009, the canalization project of the channel from Meishan (Pengshanjiangkou) to Leshan (Shanjiang Third Bridge) of the Minjiang River was included in the construction project of the integrated transportation hub in the west and was included in the construction project during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period. It is planned for 2013. Construction will begin and the project will be completed by 2020. The total investment will be 7.5 billion yuan, and the navigation capacity will be four.
